International Yoga Day observed in Nepal(with photos)
Kathmandu. Nepal on Thursday observed the 4th International Yoga Day. The 4th International Yoga Day was marked by various organisations organising yoga sessions on Thursday morning.
The Daya Foundation in collaboration with The Art of Living Nepal had organised a yoga session for government schools in Basantapur, Kathmandu.
Addressing a programme organized by Patanjali Yogapeeth on the occasion of the 4th International Yoga Day at Maharajgunj this morning, acting Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel said the government would put special efforts to rapidly develop Nepal as a hub for health, spiritual deeds and yoga.
Acting PM Pokharel, who is also the Defence Minister said the government would emphasize on promoting yoga for producing healthy citizens. He added that yoga is gaining rapid popularity and is being taught as curricular and extra-curricular activity in the educational institutions.
"The importance of Yoga is increasing across the world day by day. It should be widely publicized from different sectors", he added.
The UN has decided to observe international Yoga Day on June 21 since 2014.
